Deadline to Participate in This Year’s 33rd Ethnic Expo Parade & New Location for International Bazaar Booths

The 33rd Ethnic Expo parade will be held Saturday October 8th at 11:00 a.m. The deadline for entries is this Friday, September 23rd. The host country will be China-Taiwan.

Parade entry categories are bands, motorized-performing entry, pre-1960 classic cars, classic cars 1960 to present, community youth groups, community church groups, adult community groups and businesses. Awards will be presented in each category.

Entrants will assemble in the Brown Street Cummins parking lot and Mill Race Park. The procession will move east on Eighth Street, south on Washington Street, west on Third Street then north on Brown Street. Deadline to enter the parade is Friday September 25th. There is no cost to participate.

The International Bazaar booths will be in a new location this year in order to alieve pedestrian congestion and abide by Homeland Security rules. Their new location will be on the north side of 1st Street between Washington and Jackson Streets.

The 33rd Ethnic Expo is presented by First Financial Bank and will be held Friday and Saturday October 7th and 8th in downtown Columbus. In addition to the parade there will be fireworks Saturday October 8th at 9:00 p.m. Ethnic Expo was developed in 1984 by the Robert Stewart administration as a way to celebrate the diverse heritage of our city and better understand new and different cultures.

The festival will celebrate the food and culture of China-Taiwan and offer children’s activities Saturday from 2-4pm by kidscommons.  There will also be approximately 30 food and 14 bazaar vendors and two music stages located on the grounds of Columbus City Hall.
